35 Years of Public Sector Unionism Honored
Dozens of AFSCME members gathered on the Capitol steps on Friday, September 9th to witness the dedication of a historical marker commemorating the 35th anniversary of Act 195, the law that allowed public sector workers to organize.
"Thirty-five years ago, on these very steps, State workers picketed the Capitol," said Executive Director David Fillman. "What did they want? The freedom to join a union. This marker commemorates their struggle and their victory."
