Somerset County Employees Donate to Local Causes

Members of Local 471 (Somerset County, Somerset Borough, and Meadow View Nursing Center) were featured in The Daily American for forgoing their annual Christmas party to donate $1,000 to two local charities instead.

This is the second year that the members have opted to spend the money on charity instead of a party.

Half of the money went to the Somerset County Food Pantry, and half to a Somerset boy who is undergoing operations to treat a variety of medical conditions.

Last year, the Local donated money to Hurricane Katrina victims and American soldiers serving in Iraq.
