Council 13 Members Receive Governor's Awards for Excellence

May 5:  The 2nd annual Gov. Awards for Excellence ceremony took place today at the Gov. Residence.  4 AFSCME members were included in the 10 award recipients. The awards recognize exceptional public service by Commonwealth employees.  See award winners here.

 

Get Healthy Program Changes!

All members and spouses who wish to participate in the Get Healthy Program MUST take a new Get Healthy Assessment between 5/1/08 and 5/21/08 to earn a health care contribution waiver through 6/30/09.  If an existing participant does not take the new assessment by 5/21 their waiver will end 12/31/08.  A brochure outlining the steps for completing the health assessment is being mailed this week.  To complete an assessment online visit pebtf.org and click on the Get Healthy logo.  Or call 717-561-4750 or 1-800-522-7279.

 

'Operation Veterans' Hope' Kicks Off

Council 13's statewide drive to raise money and awareness for our Veterans kicked off it's first presentation event on April 8 at Southeastern Veterans' Center.  DC88, Local 1147, donated clothing and socks for all the residents.  20 other DC88 locals donated money which was used to purchase a flat-screen TV, plus 6 Wii systems for each activity room.  C13 Exec. Dir. Fillman was presented with a "2-star" letter of thanks from Major General Jessica L. Wright.  Photos from the event.

 

2008 LUTI Program Takes Place in Harrisburg

On March 9-14 the bi-annual Local Union Training Instructor (LUTI) program was held.  36 active union leaders (hand-picked by District Council Directors) participated in the intense 6-day training seminar -- one of the biggest groups in recent history.  Click here to view photos.

 

AFSCME Council 13 License Plates Are Here!

PA specialty license plates for AFSCME Council 13 members are now available.  The total cost of the plate is $30 which includes a $20 PennDOT fee; a $4.00 manufacturing fee; and a $6 contribution to AFSCME C13's Political And Legislative fund (PAL).  For an application and more information click here, or call C13 Members Services at 1-888-782-1323.  Put some union pride in your ride!
