P
Statewide Steering Committee Meeting
July 12, 2010

Statewide Steering Committee members listen to Dan Onorato explain how he grew the economy and preserved jobs in Allegheny Co. (the 2nd largest county in PA). Onorato is the only candidate in the gubernatorial race with experience running a government and balancing the budget.

Onorato (L) and Conklin shake hands with committee members. Onorato acknowledged he'll inherit a mess as governor, but he's willing to make tough decisions and support common-sense policies like a competitive Marcellus Shale severance tax. "Every state does it," he said. Then added, "Even Alaska!" In addition to starting reform with cutting back on Pennsylvania's biggest and most expensive legislature in the U.S., he said changing our defined benefit pension system isn't the way to go. "I'd rather fix it than throw it out," he said.
