Congratulations to AFSCME Local 2456 (State Professionals – District 8) member Amy Kreiger, who is currently an Administrative Assistant for the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), for being part of a group of 54 Commonwealth employees recognized for outstanding achievements as part of the Governor’s Awards for Excellence on October 23, 2023.

AFSCME Council 13 Executive Director David Henderson congratulates Local 2456 member Amy Kreiger for her and her colleagues’ achievements.

Amy and her colleagues in the PSP’s Criminal Investigation Assessment (CIA) Unit were recognized for being the national model for a “cold case” unit and bringing resolution to unsolved homicides in Pennsylvania. This team initiated a cost-saving alternative for their personnel to conduct in-house forensic genetic genealogy research. Soon after being certified, the team quickly identified a deceased Jane Doe from 2016, bringing closure to the victim’s family. Five long term unsolved homicide cases were also successfully cleared by their efforts.

Congratulations to Amy and all of this year’s award recipients! We appreciate your service and dedication, which make Pennsylvania better for all who live, work, and visit here.
