AFSCME members at Merakey secure new three-year contract

Members and leadership of AFSCME Council 13 met with management of Merakey on Thursday, November 17, to sign a newly ratified three-year contract.

In a historic investment in Merakey employees, the agreement includes significant wage increases, increased starting rates, a $500 ratification bonus, a longevity bonus, travel reimbursements, the establishment of a labor/management committee to discuss childcare needs, the establishment of a safety committee, and more.

Merakey is a leading developmental, behavioral health, and education provider, and the largest private sector employer of Council 13 members. Employees at Merakey provide a wide range of services including addiction recovery services, adult behavioral health services, autism services, intellectual and developmental disabilities services, veterans assistance services, children and family services, foster care services, aging services, and pharmacy services.

This contract is yet another example of the power of a strong union. Congratulations to all of our AFSCME sisters and brothers working in Merakey, and special recognition to the members of the negotiating team for securing this victory.
