Local 1981 (Inspectors Non-Professional – District 8) member and President of District Council 89’s Executive Board Dian Roy Smith kicked things off with a rousing introduction of AFSCME International President Lee Saunders.

Council 13 Executive Director David Fillman and District Council 90 Director Carla Insinga delivered the reports of the Rules and Credentials Committees, respectively.

Multiple Council 13 members spoke in support of various resolutions aimed at advancing the rights of AFSCME members and all working people, and were instrumental in conducting the business of the convention.

Elly McNelis of Local 1598 (Bucks County ETC) took part in an activist trivia exercise, and Local 1224 (PHEAA) President Linda Wise joined fellow AFSCME members and Secretary-Treasurer Elissa McBride for an AFSCME Strong panel discussion.

It was an uplifting week during a turbulent time for the labor movement, but if the energy in Boston gets taken back to the various affiliates and local unions, AFSCME will grow stronger than ever.

Thank you to everyone who rose up and took part in the convention.
