As you’ve seen in the news, the new administration is slashing the federal budget, laying off tens of thousands of public service workers — many of them veterans — all so they can give their billionaire buddies massive tax cuts. Make no mistake – this is not only a Washington, D.C., issue. It is going to affect all of us in Pennsylvania, whether we work for a state, city, school or hospital.

Nearly 40% of Pennsylvania’s state budget comes from the federal government. If the new administration gets its way and guts federal programs like Medicaid, it will directly affect our jobs — from pay and benefit cuts to staffing levels to potential furloughs and layoffs. It will mean cuts to local governments, schools, and health care. And it will hurt our next contract negotiations. Why are they doing this? It’s simple: to give their billionaire pals trillions of dollars in tax breaks.

But AFSCME is fighting back and Getting Organized! RSVP for Council 13’s Tele-Town Hall today!
