CONTRACT VICTORY: Ambridge Municipal workers realize union difference

Congratulations to the workers at Ambridge Municipal Authority (AMA) in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, for ratifying a strong first union contract!

AMA employees pictured left to right voting YES on their first union contract: Mike Sampson, Tom Lyle, Jesse Burkert, Andy Bires and Scott Jewel.

This major victory for the individuals who deliver high quality public services to their southwestern Pennsylvania community comes after employees won representation with AFSCME District Council 84 in February 2022.

By organizing a union at their workplace and negotiating their first collective bargaining agreement, these workers are demonstrating the power of worker solidarity and putting the union difference in writing.

Special recognition goes to the members of the negotiating team who secured this contract, as well as the AFSCME staff representatives and organizers who have assisted AMA employees in their journey to union representation and contract ratification.

These new union family members, and all AFSCME-represented workers, are encouraged to call 1-800-5-AFSCME or contact their local union representatives, to learn more about everything that AFSCME membership offers (in addition to a strong collective bargaining agreement).
