Council 13 members featured on PBS NewsHour

AFSCME Council 13 members Bill Jones (Local 1738 – Lancaster County Prison) and Crissy Myers (Local 2047 – Ebensburg Center) were featured on a PBS NewsHour piece about the experiences of state and local workers amid the pandemic and the debate over federal aid.

“I know coworkers who have confided with me and they just broke down crying because they’re so stressed out,” Bill said.

“And then we come to work and we don’t have enough equipment, not enough gowns or masks for us.”

Bill is a correctional officer at Lancaster County Prison, and Crissy is a direct care provider at Ebensburg Center, a state-run facility for the intellectually disabled. Both are on the front lines of public service.

“I am very concerned for all of us because we’re all going to work everyday,” Crissy said.
