Tuesday, May 4 at 2:00 – 4:30 PM

The first part of this series will serve as an introduction to the various roles and responsibilities of a union steward and important member rights called Weingarten Rights. We will also cover how to read and understand a local union contract or bargaining agreement as the basis for writing formal grievances.

Wednesday, May 5 at 2:00 – 4:30 PM

The second portion of this series will include discussion on the difference between a gripe and a grievance, the five steps involved in handling a grievance, and the important questions to ask when gathering information to put together a potential grievance. This day will focus on how to have hard conversations, interviewing potential grievants and witnesses, and how to use the Grievance Fact Sheet.

Thursday, May 6 at 2:00 – 4:30 PM

The Steward Training series will wrap up with instruction on preparing and executing your presentation to be able to argue grievances. This final webinar will also cover what to expect during a pre-disciplinary conference (PDC) where a steward may be asked to provide representation for fellow union members.
