Rally to save Polk Center planned for Labor Day

WHO: All are welcome! This decision affects countless lives in the community and beyond. We need as many people as possible to come out and show their support for Polk Center’s residents, the residents’ families and the hundreds of employees who work there.

WHERE: Venango County Courthouse, 1168 Liberty Street, Franklin, PA 16323
WHY: The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) recently announced the closure of Polk State Center and White Haven State Center. These centers are the homes of hundreds of residents with intellectual disabilities, and they are the workplaces of hundreds of devoted employees. Residents, elected officials, the public and employees alike were blindsided by this announcement. It is a misguided decision that will uproot and endanger people’s lives, and it must be reversed.
